Biography

Jason  completed his doctorate at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he was trained in Mouse Mammary Gland Biology and studied and the process of metastasis, with an emphasis on oncogenic signal transduction pathways (e.g. HER2) and the role of TGFbeta as a tumor promoter in advanced stages of breast cancer. Jason joined the Weaver lab in September 2013, and is beginning to investigate the hypothesis that tissue tension promotes an epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and stem-like properties in breast cancer cells. EMT/stem-like cells have been associated with tumor aggression, metastasis and resistance to therapeutics.
